​While the term "hammered" is often used to describe this textured look, in the world of vintage glass, this effect is actually achieved through a process called pressing, followed by a metallic iridescent treatment.

​Key Identification Features

​The Pattern: This is likely a variation of a "Star and Mesh" or "Geometric Star" pattern. The central 8-pointed star is surrounded by a dense, diamond-cut "mesh" that creates that hammered, reflective look.

​The Color (Marigold): This is the most iconic carnival glass color. It was created by spraying a clear or amber glass base with liquid metallic salts (like iron or tin) while the glass was still red-hot. When re-fired, it developed that signature rainbow "oil-slick" shimmer.

​The Edge: The scalloped or "crimped" edge is a classic feature of early 20th-century manufacturers like Fenton Art Glass, Imperial Glass, or Northwood.

​Historical Context

​Carnival glass earned its name because it was often given away as prizes at midways and carnivals between 1907 and 1925. At the time, it was marketed as "the poor man’s Tiffany" because it mimicked the expensive iridescent blown glass of high-end studios but was mass-produced in molds.

​Cleaning: To preserve the metallic coating, avoid dishwashers or abrasive sponges. Use lukewarm water and a mild dish soap.

Condition: Good with signs of cracks, chips, or scratches.  There is a  wobble from a manufacturing defect at its base which is a hallmark of its authenticity being original handmade, and slight wear from sitting in one place for a long time. Another sign of Antiquities authentication.
