Vintage Mid-Century Oak Catholic Sick Call / Last Rites Crucifix Set – Complete with Original Paper Instructions

This is a wonderful example of a traditional mid-century Catholic "Sick Call" or "Last Rites" home altar set. Crafted from solid oak with elegantly sculpted cross-beam ends, the front serves as a striking devotional wall crucifix.

​The cross features a clever sliding/hinged mechanism that allows the crucifix to stand upright on a table, transforming it into a portable altar. The interior hidden compartment contains the original recessed candle holders and storage space.

Remarkably, this set still includes its rare original paper instruction sheet detailing "Remote and Immediate Preparations" for a priest's emergency medical visit.

• ​Corpus: The brass-toned Corpus Christi (figure of Jesus) and INRI plaque are securely attached. Upon close observation, a very slight, authentic vintage patina is visible on the metal, adding to its historic charm.
