M.O.C. Japan Peacock and Peonies Black Japanese 8" Ginger Jar

The Midnight Peacock: A Mid-Century Tales of Golden Elegance
Step back in time to the 1970s, an era when the western world was deeply captivated by the timeless beauty of traditional Japanese artistry. Imported by the renowned Otagiri Mercantile Company (OMC), this exquisite 8-inch lidded ginger jar tells a story of meticulous craftsmanship and mid-century sophistication.
Set against a dramatic, high-gloss midnight black porcelain backdrop, a magnificent golden peacock rests gracefully amid a lush garden of blooming pink peonies and delicate white blossoms. In Japanese culture, the peacock is a symbol of protection, guidance, and beauty, while the peony represents royalty, honor, and prosperity. Every leaf, feather, and petal is outlined in brilliant gold gilding, designed to catch the ambient light of a room and create a sense of living, breathing art.
Turn the jar over, and you unlock its true pedigree. Resting on the unglazed base are its original identifiers: the iconic gold foil clover sticker reading "OMC Japan," the masterfully etched gold kiln stamp, and the faint, hand-written factory production numbers faded gently by time. This is a true survivor of an era where everyday home decor was treated as fine art—perfect for adding a dash of dramatic history, soul, and vintage opulence to your modern space.
