Dating from the dawn of Talbert’s celebrated custom couture era (circa 1946–1948), this exquisite millinery masterpiece carries exceptional single-family provenance. Purchased brand new by the original owner during the brand's post-war design launch under creative director Giulia Caruso Kanner, this piece represents the height of Manhattan's mid-century luxury fashion scene. Talbert's custom designs are historically significant and preserved in the permanent costume collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

This 1946 structured, high-crown toque (or deep-cuff cocktail hat) beautifully showcases the extravagant fabric use that was popularized by the late-1940s "New Look."

• Body: Fashioned from a plush, luminous butterscotch gold crushed velvet that shifts beautifully under lighting.

• Details: Features dramatic, hand-ruffled horizontal pleating along the crown, anchored by two stylized, hand-folded matching velvet structural bows.

• Interior: Fully lined in an incredibly vibrant, romantic autumnal floral brocade satin—a signature of Talbert’s custom-ordered salon pieces. Features the woven black and metallic gold script "Talbert Original" interior label.
